Time to Par-Tee

Good evening,

Sorry no Oldie for Friday to share today, I didn't have time to look back through my old photos to dig something out.  I had an unpleasant couple of days this week when I was off sick with a tummy bug but I'm feeling much better now.  Unfortunately, Iona doesn't feel so good now so I hope she doesn't come down with it.

Tonight's card is one I was asked to make for a work colleague to give a golf loving relative to celebrate his retirement.  I know she doesn't like anything too cutsie so I scoured good old Google and Pinterest to come up with a suitable digi.  In the end I plumped for a set from Imagine that Digi's by Kris and a matching set of digi papers.  If you haven't ever come accross this website I'd thoroughly recommend it, they have no problem dealing with Europe since the tax laws changed and Kris was extremely helpful.  You can find the website here.

I used a pre-coloured golf bag image, although there is an outline only version in the set too.  I like how this toned together with the papers.  In the inside of the gatefold card I used a ball and tee image and a fun sentiment from the same set which I die-cut using a bunting die to look like a flag at a hole on a golf course.

I was a bit wary of trying out the digi papers as I didn't have much success with my old printer but I was really happy with the results - the colours all look sharp and bright.  I used some of my Neenah card to print out on.  I probably could have used something a bit lower quality but I was frightened it wouldn't cut nicely in my paper trimmer.

I've used X-cut dies throughout and the card has only been embellished with a few toning buttons.

My colleague was very pleased with the card and hopefully the recipient was too!

Have a great weekend whatever you have planned.  I just hope my girl perks up and has a good weekend too!

Hugs,
Shona xx

LOTV Birthday Card for a Little Girl

Good morning,

I love being on the Design Teams I'm lucky to be a part of but sometimes it's nice to make a card just because.  For this card I actually followed a sketch from one of the Forum Challenges over at Docrafts.  I went for ages not entering any of their challenges but just recently I've found myself a bit more up to date craft wise and decided I would take part in a couple.  I've made the card for one of my crafty pals daughter's birthday, she is two today!

The fab stamp is by LOTV and I've coloured it with Promarkers.  I think I've made a bit of a mistake die-cutting it into a circle as I've lost some of the image but once it was done it was too late to undo :(  The papers are Recollections Valentine.  Sentiment also by LOTV.  I've used magazine freebie dies on the corners and added some pearls, a matching resin flower and some spotty organza ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by and any comments you leave.

Share an Oldie For Friday

Good morning,

Yay it's Friday! It's been a quick week having just gone back to work yesterday after the mid term break.  It's also time to share an Oldie For Friday hosted by Erika from Snappycrafts.  I've chosen this card which was made a few years ago because it has an oriental feel to it and yesterday was Chinese New Year.

The backing paper and topper were both by Kanban but for the life of me I can't remember what the sentiment stamp I used was.  More than likely a freebie one from a magazine!

Have a great Friday whatever you have planned and a fab weekend too.

Hugs, Shona xx

CRAFT DT Card - Clean & Simple

Good morning,

All good things must come to an end and so it is with half term.  Iona and I are back to school and work today.  On the upside it will be a very short week!

Ok on to my card and this is my DT make for this weeks theme at the CRAFT Challenge Blog which is 'Clean & Simple'.  We'd love you to join us with your own take on the challenge.  Our sponsors are Rick St Dennis MFA and The Stamping Boutique and they have some fabulous prizes on offer for our winners.

I've used a gorgeous digi stamp from The Stamping Boutique called Poppies and coloured it with Promarkers.  I added the sentiment myself using MS Word to keep everything clean and avoid an extra layer.

Inkeeping with the CAS theme all I've added is some red card and a ribbon bow.  Job done.

Thank you for stopping by.

Hugs, Shona xx

Dream Valley Challenges DT Card - Favourite Colour Combo

Hello!

And it's Monday again but no Monday Blues as I didn't have to get up for work today.  The schools are on mid term break so I've taken the time off to spend with Iona.  As I schedule this post I'm not sure what we'll be up to but just nice to spend some extra time together.

Ok so on to the new challenge over at Dream Valley Challenges, our theme this time is 'Favourite Colour Combo' and we would love to see what colours are your faves.  Our sponsor is Di's Digi Downloads.

It was so hard to pick a favourite as there are lots of combos that work well together for different things.  In the end I chose black and pink as I love the contrast between the light and dark and I think it works well for feminine cards.

I've used a Gorjuss image for my card, this one is called 'Little Heart'.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and then fussy cut it.  The papers are from 2 different Docrafts Capsule Collections and I've used a Spellbinders die to cut out the swatches for the patchwork effect.  The sentiment is by Pebbles Inc and I've kept it simple with just a couple of black gems to embellish.

Hope you all have a good week, whatever you have planned and thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at what I've been up to.

Cutie Pie DT Card - Cute & Delightful Doilies

Good morning!

It's Monday again already groan, I swear these weekends get shorter every week!   On the upside it's the start of a fantastic new challenge over at the Cutie Pies.  This month's theme is 'Delightful Doilies' so your creation must feature a doily and a cute image.  Our sponsors this month are Crafty Sentiments and Crafty Ribbons who are offering some fantastic prizes so we'd love you to join us.

For my DT card this month I've used a super cute image provided by our sponsor Crafty Sentiments called Bundle of Hearts.  This is a perfect image for Valentines Day or any romantic occasion.  I've coloured the image with Promarkers.

The papers are Me to You With Love and I've added faux stitching using a Letraset Fine Liner and a pokey tool to echo the stitching in the image.  The sentiment also has stitching and is from Hobbycraft.  I've mounted my image on a die cut circle using a Memory Box Astrid Circle die and a red doily from Dovecraft's Curiosity Corner collection.  I've finished my card with various buttons, red pearl hearts and a gingham ribbon bow.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I really appreciate any comments you leave for me.

Hugs, Shona xx

Friday Oldie

Good Morning!

It's Friday yay!!!  And even though this is my first full working week in 3 weeks it's still flown past very quickly!  I don't have any plans for the weekend as yet but if nothing else crops up I might pop up to my husbands work to catch some of the Docrafts demo on Saturday.

I've not shared an oldie for a couple of weeks but I've decided to join Erika and hopefully a few other blogging buddies and unearthed this one to show you.  It's been on the Docrafts gallery and Pinterest before but I don't think I've blogged it.

This was my first (and so far only) double easel card and I made it after seeing a gorgeous sample Erika (Snappycrafts) had made at a demo.  My one is quite a simple version and just uses toppers and papers from the Forever Friends A Christmas Tale collection.  I think it turned out ok for a first attempt.

Have a fantastic weekend, whatever you have planned.

Hugs,
Shona xx

CRAFT Challenge DT Card - Decoupage

Good evening,

I'm a wee bit late blogging my DT card for the CRAFT Challenge.  I usually schedule it in advance and I did try to last night while in bed on the Kindle Fire but to my shame I fell asleep with it in my hand.  Oops!!!

So this weeks challenge over at the CRAFT Challenge is Decoupage and we would love you to join us with your own creation and you could be lucky enough to win a prize from one of our fantastic sponsors.

I have used an image from one of the sponsors Sunflowerfield called 'Cherry Muffin'.  I've coloured it with Promarkers and used 4 layers to get a 3D effect.

The papers and paper blooms are from the Docrafts Festive Capsule Collection.  I've added a large button tied with bakers twine, a Polka Doodles sentiment, some pearls and gems.

Thank you for looking,
Hugs, Shona xx

Dream Valley DT Card - Valentines Day

Hello!

Wow I can't believe it's been so long since my last post.  Iona and I had a couple of nights away in Dundee last weekend as she was competing in a Dance and Cheer Competition.  It was a busy and tiring weekend with late nights and early mornings.  This weekend thankfully has been much more laid back and I got a chance to get up to date with my DT duties again.

Today over at Dream Valley Challenges we have a fantastic new challenge starting and the theme is Valentines Day.  We'd love you to join us, our sponsor this week is The Paper Shelter.

I've used one of the sponsor digis called Birds Couple, they are such a cute little pair of love birds!

I've coloured them with Promarkers then die-cut using an X-cut oval die.  The corner dies are new and were a recent magazine freebie, I couldn't wait to try them out!  The paper was another freebie with last month's Creativity Magazine from Docrafts.  My card is finished off with a Habico sentiment, buttons, pearls and a resin flower from Docrafts.

Thank you for stopping by,

Hugs,
Shona xx
