CAS Penguins for Christmas with the Cuties

Good afternoon,

I didn't get a chance to schedule my DT card for the latest Christmas with the Cuties challenge so I'm making good use of my time and typing this up while I'm on my lunch break from work.  It's a cold and sleety day here in the North of Scotland so I'm happy to stay inside and catch up with my blog post.

Our optional challenge them is Clean and Simple so I'm not sure if I've captured that or not!  I'm never very sure of CAS, I've maybe used too much patterned paper to be considered CAS but I've not used much in the way of embellishments.

We are sponsored by our friends at Bugaboo who have a fab prize for our lucky winner.  I've used one of their cute penguin digis for my card.

Materials used:
Digital Stamp - Bugaboo Joy Penguins
Promarkers
Patterned Papers - Simply Creative Jolly Christmas
Cardstock,
buttons & twine from stash

That's all from me for the moment.

By for now,
Shona xx

Curious Wonders Samples for JMC Designs

Hello, it's me again!

I'm back to share some samples I made for JMC Designs launch shows on Hochanda last Friday.  If you've not come across Julia's designs before they are just amazing.  Her creativity and quirkiness shines through in everything she designs.  I'm lucky enough to live close to Julia and had attended some of her mixed media workshops and was absolutely delighted when she asked me to be on her design team!  As well as launching on Hochanda, JMC also have an Etsy shop with some fantastic digital designs, follow the link above.

Julia's first physical collection is called Curious Wonders and is based around the Alice in Wonderland story.  There are gorgeous papers, stamps, resins and MDF elements.  I'm just sharing a few examples here on my blog but if you look out for me on Instagram @handmade_by_hamill there's lots more on there and if you'd like to have a peek at what the rest of the amazing design team have been up to pop over to JMC Designs Crazy Craft Hive group on Facebook where as well as cards there are also some inspirational mixed media and off the page projects.

Forever Friends with the Holly & Ivy Christmas Challenge

Good afternoon,

Well it's a snowy, windy, stormy and even sunny kind of day here in the North of Scotland.  If there's one thing true about the Scottish weather it's that we often experience all 4 seasons in the same day, heck even all 4 in one hour has been known!

I've popped on to try and get up to date with my blogging.  I was away from home for a long weekend last weekend and really busy in the days leading up to going away so unfortunately I didn't get to post my Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge DT card on my own blog in time although it was on the Challenge blog when it should have been phew!  As I've been so busy I decided to make a quick but cute Forever Friends card from my ancient A Christmas Tale Collection which has been in my stash almost since I first started cardmaking and I'm still clinging on to a few of the papers and toppers!

Materials used:
Decoupage, papers & sentiment - Forever Friends A Christmas Tale
Cardstock, button & twine from stash

Thanks for stopping by today to see what I've been up to.  Hope to be back sharing some other makes shortly!

Hugs,
Shona xx

Cute and Cuddly Animals with the Cutie Pies

Hello,

I'm writing this post on my lunch break at work today as I wasn't organised enough to get it scheduled ahead of time!  Actually, I'm quite glad not to have to go outside as we are having lots of snow flurries off and on.

Anyway, today I'm sharing my DT card for the latest Cutie Pie Challenge.  Our theme this month is 'Cute and Cuddly Animals' and we are sponsored by our friends at Bugaboo who have a fantastic prize for our winner.

I've used one of their fab images and coloured it with Promarkers.  The papers are very old Me To You ones from Docrafts and I've used some recycled ribbon!

Materials used:
Digital stamp - Bugaboo
Promarkers
Sentiment stamp - from a Bobunny set
Papers - Docrafts Me To You With Love
Label die - X-cut
Border punch - X-cut
Cardstock, ribbon and twine from stash

Thanks for stopping by today, I'd better get back to work now!

Hugs,
Shona xx

Holly & Ivy Christmas Challenge #63

Good morning,

Another scheduled post from me today because when this goes live I will be en route to Edinburgh for a meeting with work.  Hopefully the weather will be fine, my boss is driving us down.  I hope you're impressed with how organised I am so far this year, I do hope I can keep it up as I have a lot of crafty plates to keep spinning and some exciting new things coming up soon.

Anyway, today I'm sharing my DT card for this fortnight's Holly & Ivy Christmas Challenge, as always our theme is Anything Christmas Goes!  This is my first Christmas card of the year but with 2 Christmas Design Teams and 3 cards to make a month it most definitely won't be my last lol!

So for this challenge I decided to use some of my Stampin' Up goodies I bought from the Christmas 2019 collection.  I bought the papers from the collection a few months ago when the new catalogue came out and I loved them so much I bought the stamp set and tree punch to match.  SU might be a little more expensive but you always get fantastic quality and lots of the products mix and match with each other so you get great mileage out of them.  I can't wait for a peek at the new collection!

Materials used:
Papers - Stampin' Up - Wrapped in Plaid
Stamp set - Stampin' Up - Perfectly Plaid
Tree punch - Stampin'up
Star punch - unknown kids punch (Tesco?)
Gold cardstock - Crafters Companion Centura Pearl
Remaining cardstock, cord and jingle bell from stash

That's all from me for the moment.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Cute, Clean & Simple with the Cutie Pies

Good morning,

And a happy new year too!

It's a scheduled post from me this morning as I'll be at work.  I'm impressed that I survived working a whole week last week after the short Christmas and New Year weeks.  It's another full week this week and for the next few weeks until mid February, although I'm off to Edinburgh with work on Tuesday so that'll break up this week a bit!

Anyhow, on to my card... today I'm sharing my design team make for the Cutie Pie Challenge this month our theme is Cute, Clean and Simple (CAS) and we are sponsored by My Besties from Sherri Baldy.

I have to say I struggle a bit with CAS cards, it's not like I over embellish my usual cards but I'm never sure when I've done enough if that makes sense.  Anyway, this card did not go to plan!  I spent a lot of time colouring the beautiful image as it's quite detailed and I was really quite happy with the result, it was getting late and I was getting tired and I then had a look for some coffee related sentiment stamps I have in my stash and was working out which to use and where to stamp them when I suddenly discovered I'd smudged Memento Tuxedo Black ink all over one side of my coloured image aaaargh!!!!  I stepped away from it for a while to calm myself down then went back to rescue it as best I could.  I ended up cropping the image further to get rid of the smudges and added some spotty paper which I hadn't planned using but is a great match all the same.  I was too frightened to go back to the sentiment stamps just in case of further disaster so I printed out my own sentiment on the pc.  I added a button to complete my simple yet near disaster of a card lol.  It may not look as I originally planned but I'm quite happy with how it's turned out now!

Materials Used:
Digi stamp - Sherri Baldy, My Besties, I Love Coffee
Promarkers
Papers - Recollections Valentine
Vardstock, button & twine from stash

That's all from me today but I will be back with you very soon.

Hugs,
Shona xx
