I♥Promarkers DT Card - Pastel Colours

Good morning,

A scheduled post from me today.  We have a fab new challenge over at I♥Promarkers, our theme this fortnight is Pastel Colours.  Our sponsor is Fabrika Fantasy.

I have used one of there cute images called Dancing Squirrel for my DT card and coloured it with Promarkers of course.

I've used co-ordinating cardstock and papers from my newish Folk Song pad from Simply Creative/Trimcraft.  These papers are an absolute steal just now in Hobbycraft think they were just £2.00 for a pack of 30 6x6 sheets!  The sentiment stamp is from a set by Personal Impressions.  My card is finished off with mint green gingham ribbon, enamel dots and a resin flower.

Thanks for dropping by.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Finally finished this one...

Good evening,

I finally finished this card that's been lurking in one of my craft bags for ages!  I have no idea why I didn't finish it before I just kept forgetting about it.  I don't often make cards with toppers these days but I rather like these Forever Friends ones.

It's not very awe inspiring but I will add it to my pile for Saturday's Craft Fair.  Papers are magazine freebies, Personal Impressions sentiment stamp and finished off with some buttons and twine.  Simples.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Trying Something New #2

Good morning,

My daughter Iona is away at camp with Girl's Brigade and it's my husband's weekend to be working so I've been productive and made some cards for the craft fair I'm doing next week.

Just for a change (and something I've wanted to do for ages) I have customised a candle with a Gorjuss image following a tutorial I found on Pinterest (my guilty pleasure!).

First I cut some white tissue into a rectangular shape, big enough to take my stamped image, which I smoothed out and taped to a slightly larger offcut of white stamping card.  Next I stamped my image (Gorjuss Hang Me Up To Dry) onto the tissue using a Memento ink pad in Tuxedo Black.  I then coloured my stamped image with Promarkers.  Once I was happy with the colouring I carefully fussy cut around the image leaving a small border.  Next I wrapped the tissue image around a candle (just a plain white unscented one from Tesco) then wrapped around a piece of wax paper a bit larger than the candle (leaving a flap either end that you can hold onto) pulling it tight to secure the image.  I then used a heat tool on the lower setting to transfer the image onto the candle.  You can see the image changing colour meaning it has transferred.  Keep the heat tool moving and don't over heat, it really doesn't take long.  Then I carefully peeled away the wax paper, everything had transferred ok but if it doesn't you can just place the wax paper back over and heat again.

Now I just need to check it burns ok before I buy any more candles!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Trying Something New...

Good Morning,

Today I'm sharing a card that I was asked to make by my sister in law to give my nephew for his birthday yesterday.  She just said I'll leave it to you, you know what he's into!  Well, the first thing that sprung to mind was that he loves music so that's the theme I went with but I also wanted to try out something different.  I had bought a set of Creative Expressions stamps called Urban Beats and since they are just meant to be stamped in a solid colour I decided I would have a play with the background.

To start with I spritzed water directly onto a white card blank then used a flat paintbrush to paint on bands of 4 different Tim Holtz distress inks (Faded Jeans, Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed & Dusty Concorde).  I thought it needed something else so I then spritzed on some Dylusions Ink Spray in Vivid Turquoise (that I bought after an art journalling workshop and was lying untouched until now) and Artiste Spritzing ink in Gold (also unopened!) which gave a gorgeous lustre that unfortunately you can't really see in my photo.  All the moisture made my card blank a bit mis-shapen so once I stamped on my image and sentiment I decided to crop it and mount it on a kraft 6x4 card blank instead.  I finished off my card with some vinyl letters and a single button tied with paper cord.

It was really nice to try out something completely different and a bit more free-style than my normal cards and it's definitely made me want to dabble in art journalling again.

That's all from me for now.  Thanks for dropping in to see what I've been up to.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Dream Valley DT Card - Anything Goes

Hello,

I'm back again with a second scheduled post this morning to share my DT card for Dream Valley Challenges.  We have a nice easy theme for the next fortnight - everyone's favourite 'Anything Goes'.  Our sponsors are Robyn's Fetish and Angie's Cards & Digis.

Robyn's Fetish

Angie's Card and Designs

I used a fab image from Robyn's Fetish called Bouquet Bear which I've coloured with Promarkers.  I thought the heart shaped bouquet lent itself to a romantic theme so I decided to make an Anniversary card.  The layout is loosely based on a sketch I found on Pinterest although it was meant for a rectangular card so I adapted it to suit a square one and my 6x6 papers.

Other materials as follows:

Papers - Recollections Valentine
Sentiment Stamp - LOTV
Circle, Scalloped Circle & Filigree Heart Die - X-cut
Button, cardstock, paper cord and pearls from stash

Thanks for stopping by.

Anyway, on to my card.  We have a fab new challenge just started over at the Cutie Pie Challenge.  Our theme this month is 'Woodland Friends' but remember your card must have a cute/whimsical image to be eligible for a top 3 place and/or a prize.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Pink Gem.

I've chosen one of their cute hedgehog digis for my card.  This one is called 'Hedgy with Bee' and I've coloured her with Promarkers.

Card from Scraps #2

Good evening,

Well Iona is off on her cheerleading travels so here's another card from scraps from me.  I actually made it over a week ago but didn't get a chance to blog it!  I'm not doing very well in my quest to make cards for my table at an upcoming Craft Fair - must try harder!

This one is made with papers from the Sew Lovely range by Docrafts, felt shapes from Hobbycraft, buttons from Tesco, LOTV sentiment with punched out flowers, gems and paper cord to finish.

Hugs,
Shona xx

I ♥ ProMarkers DT Card - Use 2 Colours Only

Good morning,

Well I'm around half way through my week's holidays from work and as yet I haven't really done anything I planned!  Iona is away this afternoon to a camp/sleepover with her cheerleading team until tomorrow evening so it will be a bit quiet around the place!  Maybe I'll get caught up with some crafting though...

Today I'm sharing my DT card for I ♥ ProMarkers, our theme this fortnight is 'Use 2 colours only'.  Our sponsor for the challenge is Dr Digi's House of Stamps.

Well I have to say that was a bit of a challenge in itself as I usually like to use a lot of black on my cards as well as coloured papers and image etc.  In the end I chose a sponsor image called Birthday Cake and plumped for my current favourite colour combo - pink and yellow!  I think this will have to be my last one in this colour scheme for a while - even I'm getting fed up of it lol!

Again, the papers are more from my magazine freebie Nitwits stash.  I've added some buttons, enamel dots and spotty ribbon to the papers and elements and the sentiment was generated in Word and just added to the image using a borderless text box.

Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Shona xx
