Dream Valley DT Card - Ribbon/Lace & Pearls

Hello!

I've had a busy time since my last post.  My daughter was singing with the local pop choir at a charity concert last Friday.  They did so well and lots of money was raised for a fab local cause that's raising money to pay for a purpose built centre for people with Learning Disabilities.  Since then a lot of my time has been taken up with my Aunt who has been unwell but thankfully is getting better now.  Unfortunately I've now done something to my back.  I've no idea how it went but it's pretty painful :(

Anyway, on to todays post and this is my card for the Dream Valley Challenges Design Team.  This time our them is Ribbon/Lace and Pearls and we would love you to join us and share your take on the challenge.  Our sponsor this time is the fantastic All Dressed Up.  I've used one of their images called Love Spring Time for my card.  Their images are a dream to colour and I especially love colouring the hair!  I've used Promarkers for my card.

The paper is from an old Docrafts Capsule Collection, this one is Lemon Sorbet.  The lace and button are also from Docrafts.  The 'hello' die is by Craft Asylum for Sizzix and some stripy Hobbycraft ribbon and Scrapberry pearls finish off my simple card.

Thank you for visiting today and any comments you leave.

Hugs, Shona xx

CRAFT Challenge DT Card - Mother's Day/Female

Hello,

Apologies, I'm a wee bit late posting my CRAFT Challenge DT card - it's been a bit of a mad week and I'm not as organised as usual!  The theme for our challenge this week is Mother's Day/Female and our sponsor is Little Miss Muffet Stamps - we'd love you to join us!

For my card I've used a super cute image from our sponsor called "Kiki Bloom" and it's been coloured with Promarkers.

I've coloured it to match my papers which are a combination of First Edition Birdsong and Dovecraft Cupcake Boutique.  I've matted and layered everything on to kraft card.  The sentiment was done in Word on the pc and I've finished off with coloured pearls and some pink Hobbycraft ribbon.

Thank you for looking, have a great Friday!

Dream Valley DT Card - Easter

Good Afternoon!

Hope you've all had a good weekend?  As usual mine was busy but we took time out yesterday and went for a lovely carvery lunch with my Auntie, followed by an afternoon at the park.  The weather was glorious all weekend but back to being very cold today.

Anyway without further ado, we have a fab new challenge over at Dream Valley Challenges, this fortnight's theme is Easter so why not pop along and join us.  Our sponsors are Robyn's Fetish who kindly gave the DT some lovely digi stamps to work with.

I chose a delightful stamp called Babette the Bunny which I've coloured with Promarkers to match the Forever Friends paper I used.

I've gone for an easel style card and added some lilac cardstock, ribbon, buttons, pearls and a gingham brad.  The sentiment is from a wee set I got in Hobbycraft.

Thank you for stopping by, have a great week.

Hugs, Shona xx

Oldie For Friday

Hello!

Better late than never - here's my oldie for Friday!  This was my first and to date only attempt at Art Journalling/Altered Art.  Back in august 2012 I rather indulgently took a half day off work and attended a workshop at my local craft shop.  I had great fun getting messy with spray inks and really just going freestyle on an old charity shop book.  It was lovely to try something different and very far removed from my usual style.

I'm just killing time right now, waiting for my Chinese takeaway to arrive then after that and a bit of time with Iona (if she can tear herself away from Minecraft) I have plans to finish off a couple of DT cards that are currently a work in progress.  Hubby is off out tonight he is launching a Reggae/Dub/Ska night - he just loves music and DJs in his spare time.  I'm a bit sad that I won't be there, I think it will be a great night with several DJs and a live act.  I can't wait to hear all about it and see the photos tomorrow!

Bye for now,
Hugs, Shona xx

Cutie Pie DT Card - Cute With Fancy Folds

Good Morning!

It's Monday again and today marks the start of a fab new challenge over at the Cutie Pie Challenge blog.  This month our theme is 'Fancy Folds' and we would love to see what you come up with but don't forget you also need to include a cute image too!  Our sponsors this time are Meljen's Designs and Stamp & Create who have some fabulous prizes lined up for our winners.

I've used a super cute image from Meljen's Designs called Get Along Little Doggie which I've coloured with Promarkers.  I've also paper-pieced the bandana and hat band using the same Docrafts Christmas in the Country paper I used as backing.

The fancy fold I have used is a Centre Step Card and I found the measurements and tutorial for it over at Split Coast Stampers.  I've tried one or two different folds over the years but not this one, it was pretty straight forward and quick to make with the aid of my Hougie score board so I'd definitely give it a go again.  I've kept the layout simple and used an EK Success border punch to trim the bottom panel.  Apart from that I've just added a sentiment from Pebbles Inc and some buttons and gems.

Thank you for stopping by, all comments are greatly appreciated.

Hello Sunshine...

Hello!

Well we are kind of saying Hello Sunshine in Inverness today in between the showers anyway!  There were hailstones just a wee while ago!  Here's another just because make, this time I fancied decorating a little gift bag.

I used a ready made gift bag from Hobbycraft and papers from my MME Lost & Found Ruby 12x12 pad.  The embossed craft circle was made using a new X-cut embossing folder I purchased whilst at a Docrafts demo yesterday.  I fussy cut around the embossed bit.  The phrase dies are another new purchase and are by Craft Asylum for Sizzix.  My image is from a freebie cut and colour pad that came with a recent magazine and it's been coloured with Promarkers.  I've finished with a satin bow and pearls both from Docrafts.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

(Very) Oldie For Friday

Good Morning,

Yay it's Friday!  So that means it's time to share an oldie along with Erika of Snappycrafts.  Today I'm sharing a card with you.  It's one of the first cards that made it on to my Docrafts gallery when I first joined back in 2011.  It was made entirely from Nitwits elements cut out of a magazine apart from some peel offs which are rarely seen on my cards nowadays.

Sorry, the photo isn't great it would have been my old camera that I used at a weird angle lol.

I remember I actually made this card earlier that year to thank my colleagues for the beautiful flowers they gave me when I was off for a couple of weeks after being knocked down at a pedestrian crossing beside work.  It sounds worse than it was, the van involved barely touched me but it was the prongs from the strip light bulb I was carrying gouging into my ankle that caused my injury.  I needed 11 stitches and couldn't put weight on it (especially my weight lol) for a while.  Such a long time ago now but my ankle is till prone to swell if I'm on my feet too long.

Isn't it amazing how one little card can hold so many memories bad and good!

Looking forward to catching up with some of the other 'Oldies' later.

Have a great Friday.

Shona xx

CRAFT Challenge DT Card - 3,2,1 Recipe Challenge!

Good Morning,

First of all, apologies for the look of my blog.  When I viewed my blog a couple of nights ago all the graphics on my blog had disappeared - the layout and colours were still there though.  I checked the html code and it all still seemed to be there and my chosen template is still available as a freebie from TCBOTB so I have no idea what happened.  I haven't had time to play about much with it but I tried putting on a new template, unfortunately it didn't go as planned either and the header section didn't work.  I guess this will be a job for the weekend when I've got more time on my hands.

So on to some happier news!  It's Thursday so that means it's the start of a new challenge at the CRAFT Challenge Blog and this week we have a fab recipe theme for you to play along with!

Our sponsors this week are Kenny K Downloads and Pickled Potpourri Designs who have some fantastic prizes for our winners.

I chose an amazing digi from Kenny K called Troublemaker for my DT card.  This is the first time I've used a Kenny K image and I really enjoyed bringing it to life with my Promarkers.

I matched the colours in the image to my MME My Girl papers and added a bold sentiment from the same set.  My 3 embellishments are a chevron cardstock sticker (still from same MME set), a button and a large gem.

This is a really different type of card to what I usually make but I'm really pleased with how it's turned out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs, Shona xx

Dream Valley Challenges DT Card - Mother's Day

Hello!

Wow, it's Monday again already, where do these weekends go?  We had a reasonably quiet weekend.  Iona's lurgy thankfully didn't last long and she was fine by the time she got up on Saturday.  Yesterday we had a lovely afternoon at a friend's granddaughter's christening.  Back to work today though :(

Ok on to my Dream Valley challenges DT Card for this fortnight's theme Mother's Day.  We have two fabulous sponsors The Hobby House and Crafts and Me.  We'd love you to join us so we can see your own take on the challenge.

I've used a cute topper from The Hobby House that I've had in my stash for a while.  This set is called Spring Bringer and is by Sylvia Zet.

The papers are First Edition Birdsong and I've also used a couple of Dovecraft Curiosity Corner doilies to add an extra layer and colour.  I've distressed and inked the edges of the paper and image with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink for extra definition.  The LOTV sentiment has also been stamped with the distress ink.  I've added a precious heart die cut with a Memory Box die, matching checked ribbon, various flowers and some Hobby House pearls to finish.

That's me.  Off now to make a quick meal before Iona heads out to Girl's Brigade.

Have a lovely evening,
Shona xx
