CRAFT Challenge DT Card - Recycling

Good morning,

Well it's after midnight as I'm writing up this post ready to be scheduled for the morning.  I've had some car problems this evening and that's put me on the back foot and the night has just disappeared.

So on to some happier news.  Today we start a new challenge over at the CRAFT Challenge blog.  This week's theme is recycling and we would love you join us and make a project using some recycled bits and bobs.

For my card I've used a fab digi by A Day For Daisies who are one of our sponsors this week.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and used some distress ink for the sky.  I've also used some stickles to highlight the image.  To follow the theme I used some old bubble wrap and distress ink on one of the Graphic 45 papers.  Everything was matted and layered with cardboard that was recycled off an old calendar and my ribbons were reclaimed from various sources.  I've added some spider's web, a Habico sentiment, Hobby House charm and various gems and glitter domes.

Thank you for looking!

Dream Valley Anything Goes Challenge - DT Card

Hello!

Today I'm sharing the fantastic news that I've joined the Dream Valley Challenges Design Team!  I am so looking forward to being a part of their team and they have some great challenges lined up for us so I hope you will join me and play along.

Our current challenge is everyone's favourite Anything Goes and we are being sponsored by the super talented Gerda Steiner who has kindly provided the design team with some of her digis.

I chose this cute digi Baby on Moon as I needed a baby card for a new arrival to our family!

As usual I have coloured the image with Promarkers but I paper pieced the moon using a paper from the Papermania Lemon Sorbet capsule collection.  The other papers I have used are also from a capsule collection, this time Festive Spots & Stripes.  The sentiment stamp is one from my trusty LOTV set, stamped on some of the spotty paper for a change.  The circle dies are all X-cut and the baby bottle and nappy (diaper) pin dies are from a Sizzix set.  My card is finished off with some pale blue web/net (I never know what to call this!), spotty organza ribbon, a Hobby House charm and various gems.

That's me for now, hugs, Shona xx

Cutie Pie DT Card - White on White and Cute!

Hello everyone,

It's Monday again but to cheer up the Monday blues we have a fantastic new challenge at the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog and we would love you to join us!  This month's theme is White on White but remember you must also use a cute image on your card.  As usual we have some fantastic prizes on offer from our sponsors, who this month are

My initial thought is that I would make a baby card as I need a baby boy card over the next few weeks and I thought I had a baby boy LOTV art pad image that I won as a challenge prize a while back.  When I found the image it was  totally different to the one in my head and actually better suited to a toddler than a baby so that idea was scrapped!  However, I also stumbled across this cute image so all was not lost!

It's another LOTV pre coloured image and I've also used a sentiment from LOTV.  The quilt effect embossing folder is by X-cut and the hearts are made using an Embosslits set from Stampin' Up.  The Precious Hearts dies are by Memory Box.  My card is finished off with spotty organza ribbon, pearls and pins by My Minds Eye.  The pins were part of a prize I won while taking part in a Cutie Pie Challenge long before I was on the DT so I am very proud to be able to use them on my card.

LOTV Boy's First Birthday Card

Good morning,

We've been a bit through the mill weather wise up here in the North of Scotland over the last few days.  First strong winds with gusts over 60 mph reported locally then more recently snow.  When I went to bed last night it was snowing quite heavily but I'm glad to report most of it has now disappeared.  Snow is great when you don't have to go anywhere but a nightmare when you have things to do!  Not that we get a choice lol!  One of my friends from work who stays just a couple of miles from the city centre had no power for 2 days, but luckily has a wood burning stove.  Still, it was a hard time for them with 2 small children and they also had to throw out all their food from the fridge/freezer which had deteriorated.  On a personal level I'm also adjusting to being back at work full time.  That was my first full week since the start of August and I can't say it was easy, especially having been off for over a fortnight over the holidays.

It feels like ages since I've posted anything that wasn't for a DT or a Christmas Card so today I have a first birthday card to share with you.

The rubber stamp is by LOTV and is coloured with Promarkers, the sentiment is also LOTV.  The fab paper is from a pack I bought in Lidl and although it's not clear on the photo there's encapsulated glitter on the yachts.  The scalloped and plain circle dies are X-cut and the stitched one I think is by La-La Land, it was sent to me pre cut along with some others in an order from Dies to Die For.  I've added a foam number from Asda , glitter domes by Docrafts and a seashell charm tied on baker's twine from The Works.  Between Lidl and Asda this card is a bit of a supermarket sweep!!!

Bye for now, the housework awaits (sad face)

CRAFT Challenge DT - Not a card

A very good morning to you,

Today is the start of a new challenge over at the CRAFT Challenge Blog.  This week the theme is NOT A CARD so you have plenty of scope and we'd love you to share your projects with us.  As usual we have some fantastic prizes up for grabs from our sponsors:

I decided to make a little Valentine's gift bag for my DT project.  The image I've used is by Diane's Daydream who sadly have now closed their online shop due to the new EU VAT rules that came into effect on 1st January.  It's a very difficult time for shops that deal exclusively or mainly in digital media.

I've coloured the image with Promarkers using just a handful of colours to suit the style of the digi.  The plain kraft bag is from Hobbycraft as are the DPs which are from a Recollections Valentines pad which says on the back that it was made for Michael's Stores so I'm not quite sure how the ended up in Hobbycraft in the UK but they're really cute and I think they're VERY similar to MME.  The 'Bingo' card and heart border are also cut from the paper pad.  The newsprint paper is by Stampin' Up.  I've added some letter stickers from the Madame Payraud collection by Docrafts and embellished with glitter heart stickers, pearls, ribbon and paper cord from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by, hope to see you again soon.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Happy New Year & Share An Oldie for Friday

Good evening and a Happy New Year!

Well that's 2014 put to bed and I can't really say I'm sorry, it's not been the best of years.  Having said that there's been lots of good times too, both in my personal life and my crafting life.  This year I've been accepted on to 2 design teams which has long been one of my crafting ambitions and I'm loving every minute!  I'm glad to say I haven't been stressed with deadlines as yet which is something I was slightly worried about.  Anyways onwards and upwards in 2015 for us all!!!

Today I've decided to join Erika at Snappycrafts and share one of my oldies for Friday.  My oldie is one I made over 2 years ago for our daughter Iona's 7th birthday.  I've shared it on my Docrafts gallery before but that was before my blogging days!

The image of course is a Tilda stamp from Magnolia and has been coloured with Promarkers with lots of Stickles added.  I chose this image as Iona at the time did Cheerleading.  She still does but now she also does Pom Dance, Jazz and Hip Hop too and is making more use of Mum's taxi than ever before!!!

Have a wonderful weekend, I'm off to dish up some stovies that have been simmering away and smell gorgeous!

Bye for now,
Shona xx
