Share An Oldie For Friday - Talent Spot @ Creativity Magazine

Hi there,

It's been a while since I joined in with 'Share an Oldie' started by Erika at Snappycrafts.  I know she is currently taking a break from blogging and I'm not sure if anyone else is still taking part but I thought I'd put this one on anyway as I found it while having a camera clear out!

This is a card I made back in early 2015 for the 'Talent Spot' in Creativity Magazine after they spotted a card of mine in the Docrafts online gallery (which I wan't even keen on!) and asked me to make a card for the magazine.  Sadly I no longer have time to post on there as well as on my blog but it was lovely to be asked at the time.

Docrafts provided most of the materials so it was really just a case of coming up with a layout.  The decoupage, papers, buttons, lace, ribbon, etc are all from Docrafts Simply Floral collection.

And here's the article in print

I'm really happy with how it turned out and it was fantastic seeing it in print - the only downside was that I didn't get the card back after it was photographed for the magazine.

Anyway, that's all for my Friday Oldie, have a fantastic weekend whatever you have planned.

Hugs,
Shona xx

Simply Love at The Cutie Pie Challenge

Good morning!

I'm back with a scheduled post today to share my DT card for the Cutie Pie Challenge.  Our theme this week is 'Simply Love' so we'd love you to share your Valentine's (or any other suitable lovey dovey occasions) cards with us - just remember to include a cute character too!

This month we are being sponsored by the fantastic Sasayaki Glitter who have provided us with some fab digis to work with.

The gorgeous digi I chose is called You Got My Heart and I have coloured it with Promarkers.

I kind of made up my mind I was going to use this new embossing folder (a recent magazine freebie) on my card but I rather foolishly didn't have a layout in my head.  I started off by masking a heart shape that would remain un-embossed (is that even a thing?) but there wasn't enough contrast colourwise to look good so I decided to cut a gingham scalloped heart.  I also thought the embossing would look better if it was fussy cut to create a scalloped effect.  The rest just kind of evolved which is unusual for me - I usually have it all pre-planned in my head!  Sometimes it's nice to just go with the flow...

Materials Used:
Digi - Sasayaki Glitter - You Got My Heart
Promarkers
Embossing folder and sentiment - magazine freebies
Paper - Docrafts Papermania Christmas In The Country 12x12
Ribbon, twine, buttons & pearls from stash

That's all from me for now, hope your week gets off to a great start whatever you're up to!

Hugs,
Shona xx

Patchwork Noel

Hello,

A late post from me tonight to share another Christmas card.  I hardly made a Christmas card all year last year so this year I'm on a mission to make loads.  So far so good!  I made this one last week at craft club.  I actually would have got a lot more done if I didn't spend ages pondering over what I was going to buy from the Stampin' Up catalogue lol!  Tomorrow I'm going to take a few stamped images to colour and some knitting as a back up.

I feel I also have to apologise that it's yet another patchwork card but I just love making them and they're great for using up scraps.  This one actually uses some of the leftover scraps from the last Christmas card I posted.  I've raised the Noel die cut up with 3D foam tape to make it stand out a bit more.

Materials used:
Craft UK kraft cardstock
LOTV Classic Christmas papers
Spellbinders Square Swatches nesting dies
Sizzix Bigz Noel die
Woodware 3D foam tape
Button and twine from stash

That's it from me tonight, hope you're having a great week.

Hugs,
Shona xx

New Home Card

Good morning,

Hope you're having a great weekend!  Today I'm sharing a commissioned card I made before Christmas but didn't get a chance to blog with all the festive madness!  The brief was for a new home card with tartan and stags as the theme.  I remembered about these Docrafts Christmas papers and thought they would work well with my new First Edition dies.  I doodled some faux stitching around the 'patches' with a black pen.

Materials used:
Docrafts Papermania Christmas in the Country 12 x 12 papers & ribbon
Red and kraft cardstock
First Edition New Home Dies
Spellbinders Square Swatches Nesting Dies
X-cut Scalloped Heart Nesting Dies
Lettraset Fine Line pen
Button & twine from stash

That's all from me just now, I have a few things to do before I pick up my daughter from her performing arts class so must dash.

Thanks for stopping by, hugs,

Shona xx
